These 4-hour courses focus on improving learners' classroom discussion skills through content-based instruction (CBI). Students learn words and phrases appropriate for classroom discussion. They read, listen to, and watch a variety of materials on a topic and then practice their speaking skills in discussions related to the topic they have learned about. They also give short presentations.

Once a week UO students join the Discussion class as tutors to help students at all levels practice everyday conversation.
