These are 4-hour courses for students in levels 3-6. The goal of these courses is to enhance successful communication through a focus on receptive listening skills. Students develop their aural comprehension of level-appropriate listening materials on various topics. Students identify main ideas and details via top-down listening skills, such as making inferences and applying background knowledge. In addition, equal attention will be given to bottom-up listening skills, such as level-appropriate word recognition and comprehension of targeted grammar. Interactive listening skills and level-appropriate aural strategic competence strategies will also be covered. Content focuses on academic listening.
