IEP Conversation Partners
The AEI's Tutoring and Conversation Partner Program offers full-time IEP students weekly conversation partner sessions with a UO student. Conversation partners are English speakers who can help you practice your language skills outside of the classroom and learn more about culture at the UO and in the U.S.
Research indicates that conversation partners help accelerate language gains and cultural adjustment to life on campus and in our community. Active, motivated learners equal high achievers. If you have questions, concerns, or ideas about the program, please stop by the tutoring office.
The Tutoring and Conversation Partner Program office coordinates the following programs:
- Conversation Partners - Don’t miss your chance to learn about student life from a UO student. Eligible IEP new and returning students sign up during Week1 of each term. Conversation partners meet for two 50-minute sessions per week.
- Oral Conversation Skills and International Student Success Class Tutors - Once a week a group of UO student tutors join OCS and ISS classes to assist in instructor-directed activities.
- IEP Drop In Help Desk - Looking for extra study practice or help with your homework? Stop by the Tutoring office in Pacific 117 Mon-Thurs 1pm-3pm, Fri 11am-1pm.Tutors can help with writing, grammar, reading help, speaking, interviews; or simply conversation!
